I know you’re out there! Are you interested in a photoshoot? You are? Good because you should join the discussion over on the JAFAX forums!

Why on the forums and why not organize on tumblr?

JAFAX allows groups of cosplayers from a center show or fandom to reserve spots at certain locations on campus to meet up and take photos. This helps with space because JAFAX is held on a college campus and space can get tight in hallways and outside with blocking entrances. Also, it helps with the volunteers and staff members to maintain order in the convention. It’s nice to cut them some slack because it’s a free con and all donations are put back into the con itself, so there’s no profit being made from the staff.

I’ll post all the details on tumblr once the photoshoot is organized and ok’d by the staff, to catch everyone up and on the same page.

I’m interested in attending!

Awesome and here’s a link! We need to show there’s at least a few people interested (at least 5 to 10 people). Also, joining the forums is a great way to help out and give suggestions to improve the con. The staff is great and always fun to talk to. Depending on the size, I might bring snacks and water.

What are the details? Anything I should know?

LOCATIONS:

Here are available locations, unless otherwise noted:

Large Fountain
There is a large round fountain just past the archway next to Henry Hall. It is a large open bricked area with lots of space for large groupings. In case of rain, the covered walkway is available.
Note: You may not take pictures IN the fountain.
Around it? Okay.
In it? No no!
Understood? Understood.
This location is good for elegant, steampunk, and even class outfit photoshoots! If your group is large, you will want this location!

Mackinac Courtyard
This is the courtyard between Mackinac (where Artist’s Alley is) and Manitou, where the large spike sculpture is located. It’s got a nice green grass area, and can be easily seen from the Artist’s Alley, as well to other passerbys. There is also a covered area for inclement weather so photoshoots may still proceed, though it is on the smaller side.
This location is neat for ancient, industrial, cyberpunk, historic, etc photoshoots.

TIMES:

Times available are Saturday at 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday at 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Note that there will be construction (again) during JAFAX on campus. The forums has a thread with details on the construction.
